After activation, the light spreads evenly through the semi-transparent film, eliminating dazzling glare, hotspots or visible fixtures, thereby generating soft ambient lighting that fills the entire space.
Its key strengths lie in aesthetics (seamless, clutter-free look that complements modern design) and functionality: it can be tailored to different lighting needs (warm ambient light for hotels, bright uniform light for offices, or decorative colored light for retail spaces) and is easy to maintain (the smooth membrane resists dust and is simple to clean).
How does stretch ceiling lighting work
First,stretch ceilin profile is installed along the perimeter of the room, attached to the original ceiling or walls.This frame acts as a "support structure" to hold the entire system in place, and it also creates a narrow gap (usually 5–10cm) between the original ceiling and the upcoming stretched membrane—this gap is where the light sources will be placed.

Then, a thin, flexible membrane (typically made of PVC or polyester fiber) is stretched tightly over the aluminum frame. The membrane’s key feature here is its translucency: it allows light to pass through but diffuses it evenly, rather than letting harsh, direct light shine through. The stretching process ensures the membrane is wrinkle-free and seamless, forming a smooth "second ceiling" that covers the hidden frame and lights.
Finally, when the light sources are turned on, light travels upward (or outward, depending on placement) toward the translucent membrane. The membrane scatters the light, breaking up any hotspots or glare, and releases a soft, uniform glow that fills the entire room.
