London Clothing Store Remould:the Track Light Shone Brightly
Case Details

The 650-square-meter women's clothing store in London is facing a problem : the old ceiling lights in the store make the soft fabrics look dull , and customers have difficulty seeing the details of the clothing. Rearranging the display racks means hiring an electrician . After switching to commercial track lighting , the sales of her store's gowns increased by 35% and energy costs dropped by 28% .

Project Background

Before the upgrade, the 650-square-meter clothing store only relied on 8 basic ceiling flat lights (4000K cold white) and 2 fixed spotlights. The color reproduction was low and the light was uneven, which affected the customers' experience of choosing clothes and thus had a huge impact on the sales of the clothing store.

Project Difficulties

  • Color distortion issue: The cool white light dilutes the soft colors, making the dark denim look gray - 30% of customers say the clothes "don't match what they saw online".
  • Switching lights is troublesome: When she rotates the seasonal series (for example, moving the winter knitwear to the front), she has to wait for two weeks for the electrician to reposition the peak sales window where the lights are missing.
  • The product focus is not prominent: New arrivals and discounted items are mixed in the background. Shoppers didn't notice when they walked past the best-selling clothing section.
  • High energy consumption: The old incandescent bulbs used 220 kilowatt-hours per month, increasing the electricity bill by £45 each month.

Track light solution: Tailor-made for clothing stores

We recommend choosing a ce certified commercial track lighting system (aluminum tracks are durable, rust-proof, and suitable for the humid winter in London) to solve Emma's pain point

  • Track Type

We offer three types of track rails (two-wire track rails, three-wire track rails, and four-wire track rails) for customers to choose from. The difference among them lies in the number of copper strips in the guide rails. We install tracks on the ceiling surface. The shapes of the tracks are spliced according to the customer's requirements. The tracks cover the display racks, entrance passages, and checkout counter areas
  • Adjustable beam Angle spotlight from 15° to 60°

6 × 20W narrow beam spotlights (24° beam Angle, CRI≥97,3000K warm white) : Used to highlight the warm white primary color of clothing hangers, soft fabrics (such as silk and linen), the narrow beam focuses 2-3 pieces of clothing on each hanger (no light waste). 3x 18W wide beam spotlights (60° beam Angle, CRI≥95,4000K neutral white) : For general lighting at entrances and open floors - bright enough to guide shoppers without being dazzling.
  • Linear lights

In clothing stores, linear lights, with their long and uniform light output and flexible installation features, have become practical lighting fixtures that fill local lighting gaps and create an atmosphere. They are installed under the shelves of hanging clothes racks, on the window frames, and against the background walls of cash registers. Embedding line lights at the bottom of the layer boards of multi-layer stacked shelves can directly illuminate the clothes stacked on the lower layer, avoiding the shadows caused by traditional top lighting and allowing customers to clearly see the patterns, buttons and other details of the clothes

The role of track lights in various areas

  • Display stand: Sales increased by 35%

We installed narrow-beam spotlights 2.2 meters above each hanger, tilting them down by 15 degrees to illuminate the center of the clothes. Embed line lights at the bottom of the layer boards of the multi-layer stacked shelves to directly illuminate the clothes stacked on the lower layers, allowing customers to clearly see the patterns, buttons and other details of the clothes
  • Fitting room: Returns reduced by 90%

The adjustable spotlights in the fitting room have solved the "shadow problem". According to the size and layout of the fitting room, the beam Angle of the spotlights can be flexibly adjusted, allowing customers to view the details of the clothing more clearly. The high color rendering design makes the colors more realistic
  • Entryway & Checkout: Clear Focal Points

We used 1 narrow-beam spotlight to highlight a “New Arrivals” table near the door—drawing shoppers’ eyes as soon as they walked in. At the checkout, a floodlight kept the area bright for payments, while a small spotlight above her jewelry display (added in 5 minutes, no tools!) boosted accessory sales by 22%.

Project Result

  1. Overall sales increased by 35%
  2. Energy costs have been reduced by 28% (from 220 kilowatt-hours per month to 158 kilowatt-hours per month) - saving £126 annually.
  3. Returns related to color have decreased by 90%.
  4. £500+ saved on electrician fees (no more repositioning costs).
